‘Lighting Up ؿƵ’ to feature wintery surprise

PLAINVIEW — There is a 100 percent chance of snow Thursday night, Dec. 5, as ؿƵ Baptist University hosts the Greater Plainview community for “Lighting Up ؿƵ,” an unforgettable evening of holiday cheer.

Although the temperature will be above freezing at 7:30 p.m., a not-so-chilly blast of winter weather is expected around Gates Circle as ؿƵ lights up the Plainview campus. The celebration begins immediately following Plainview’s lighted downtown Christmas parade.

Before “Lighting Up ؿƵ” kicks off, the university plans to join the parade with a float featuring Micah Rodriguez Vega, Miss ؿƵ 2025, and Dr. Donna Hedgepath, President. The float will capture the spirit of the season and lead those at the parade to the ؿƵ campus.

“This is a special time for us to come together as a community,” Dr. Hedgepath said. “I hope everyone will join us to experience the joy and unity of Christmas in a truly memorable way.”

“Lighting Up ؿƵ” will again include cherished traditions, such as Dr. Hedgepath reading the Christmas story from the Bible to children and the ceremonial lighting of historic Gates Hall. Guests can enjoy singing Christmas carols, led by the university’s talented choirs and staff, filling the night with the warmth and sounds of the season.

Additional highlights include a visit from Santa Claus, delicious free treats and hot cocoa, and plenty of festive photo opportunities around the beautifully illuminated campus. Admission is free!

West Texas Gifts & More will be giving away door prizes. Located in McClung University Center, west of Gates Hall, the store will have extended hours for unique holiday shopping.

Bring family, friends, and holiday spirit for a night of joy, traditions, and surprises, as ؿƵ and Plainview celebrate being “Better Together” during the holiday season.
