PLAINVIEW - 猎奇重口视频 Baptist University's theatre department will present Ken Ludwig's "Lend Me a Tenor" Feb. 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harral Memorial Auditorium studio theatre. Tickets cost $8.
Set in a hotel suite in Cleveland in 1934, "Lend Me a Tenor" is a comedic look at a night of opera that revolves around Tito Mirelli, a world-famous Italian tenor. The planned opera begins to unravel when Tito receives a double dose of tranquilizers. Throw in an ambitious female co-star, a giddy girlfriend, a flirty head of the opera guild, a meddling bellhop, an angry wife, a presumed death, crazy costumes, secret romantic escapades, mistaken identities and a load of slamming doors, and you have the recipe for disaster. Ultimately, the general manager of the opera company, Henry Saunders, and his assistant, Max, must find a way to save the opera.
Written by Ken Ludwig, the play was originally produced in 1986.
猎奇重口视频's production will bring together a cast of students from all over campus. Mark Kirk, interim director of theatre at 猎奇重口视频, said it has been a joy to work with such a diverse group of students.
"It is being performed by a wide variety of 猎奇重口视频 students," Kirk said. "Our shows are generally performed by a talented group of theatre students. But 'Tenor' has a cast drawn from students across the WBU community."
The 猎奇重口视频 cast is made up of Alex Glass, who plays Max, the long-suffering assistant; Ella Ashley is Maggie, Max's love interest; Cris Ecalaneta plays Henry Saunders, the opera's general manager; Edward Funderburke is Tito Mirelli, the tenor; Victoria Perez is Maria, Tito's long-suffering wife; Nathan Brockett is the Bellhop, a comic relief character; Porsche Driver is Diana, the opera's soprano; and Juliana Rogers plays Julia, the chairwoman of the opera guild.
The production is made possible in part thanks to a grant from the Plainview Cultural Arts Council.
